During today's live show, one Smacker suggested an idea for WISD that had been brewing in my head since I decided to launch this blog. And thus, I bring you the first in (hopefully) a series of Smacker profiles – a look at PLUMPKIN.
PLUMPKIN, aka peaceoutforlife, aka Plumpkin Plumps, describes herself as a one-year old plush toy from
- Her YouTube videos are either alternative cinema brilliance or a psychopathic cry for help from a deeply disturbed mind
- Her gratuitous Outwit submissions are either marks of literary genius or an attention-whoring move from a deeply disturbed mind
- Her likes (cuddles) and dislikes (HRMPH) are either statements of pure innocence, or the confused ramblings of a deeply disturbed mind
- Her support of the Cal Bears is either a show of loyalty to her hometown team/alma mater, or the sporting masochistic manifestations of a deeply disturbed mind
- Her name, with its similarity to a vulgar sex act best described elsewhere, is either a mark of a great sense of humor and understanding of irony, or the bizarrely promiscuous bragging of a deeply disturbed mind
That's all that this writer knows about one of the most polarizing Smackers around. But what does it all mean?
When you first talk about PLUMPKIN, her prolific Outwit submissions immediately come to mind. Yet while her first forays into question writing were attempts at shameless self-promotion (ex: "What is your favorite Plumpkin video?"), the majority of her recent questions have been legitimate ones. And yet, when PLUMPKIN's name comes up, noobs and veterans alike emit a nearly audible groan that permeates throughout the internets.
WISD knows a thing or two about shameless self-promotion, but I can't begin to hypothesize more about the inner workings of a Smacker who claims to be a traveling, adventure-having stuffed pumpkin. And thus, this blog's first "Smacker Profile" is doomed to remain incomplete. What do you think about PLUMPKIN, her Outwit questions, her videos and/or the psychotropic meds she may or may not need? Plumpkin's outwit questions, let's see... Although they have been legit lately, there have been SOOOOO many of them that I hardly ever read them anymore. I used to be upset when my computer would randomly pick an outwit answer for me when I tried to get back to the page - on Plumpkin questions I almost welcome it.
On a much more congratulatory side - I admire Plumpkin's determination. I know I for one would stop submitting outwit questions if they met the mass criticism Plumpkin's do. Not only has Plumpkin continued to submit questions, but it appears the number of submissions has actually increased! Way to be brave Plumpkin!

Plumpkin - thanks for setting us straight about your name...but what about the other questions? Truly no other Smacker has so deeply consumed his or herself in an online identity. The Smack wants to know!
Of all people to have as the first profile, you pick Plumpkin?
I profiled Plumpkin not because she's my favorite Smacker, but because she's such a polarizing one. And really...what the hell is up with those videos? I wasn't sure if Plumpkin was crazy, or just an eccentric.
And I still don't know, although a PM she sent me seems to imply she's not the maniac in real life that she sometimes plays on the Smack. That is interesting to me...but if anyone has a better idea on a Smacker profile I am open to suggestions!
I have been a member for over 6 months at Jellyfish and I just don't get the whole Plumpkin controversy. As far as I've seen, all she has ever said is funny things or happy thoughts. There are so many people that talk about how much they dislike her that I thought it was a joke. And no I am not a friend of hers, just an observer, she seems nice to me.
I think there are plenty of people on Jellyfish that are wayyyyy worse than Plumpkin! I think she is the scape goat and there are people with the sheep mentality here that follow the others without thinking.
Actually Plumpkin is a downright joy compared to several others that are on daily/nightly. One that talks graphically about disgusting things (like a bleeding anus), burning kids and he has got to be bipolar with those freak outs. But when people complain they get bashed by "the herd of sheep". He completely ruins the board but instead people complain about Plumpkin.
There are also plenty of really mean members who jump on you as soon as you buy something telling you how you spent too much money and won't let up on you. One of them argued with me for 15 minutes saying that I was stupid for spending $20 on an item that I took to Walmart and got a $60 gift card for, yeah so stupid!
Or there is the complete know it all member that has to be the expert in every single conversation and then complains for weeks constantly about how being at the top of the leaderboard was so difficult on his life, how it wasn't worth it, blah blah blah, then told everyone not to go for it for the next month because it's not worth it and then guess what, he's at the top of the leaderboard. So he lied to get others to back off. I muted him after that but guess what...? I didn't mute Plumpkin.
So maybe I'm missing something and I have never seen any of the videos but I think people that complain about Plumpkin need to look at themselves because they are probably way worse than she is on the chat. I think that everyone owes Plumpkin an apology also, no one deserves to be treated that way.
Oh and as far as Outwit questions, if people hated Plumpkin's so much, why don't they try submitting some. I wrote four and they were used immediately, which says that they are low on questions, they even asked people to please submit more.
And when people read mine, there were a few that bashed my questions big time, the same questions that I took 30 minutes to write, so I will never submit another. That's why people don't submit them because so many people bash them. So go Plumpkin, we need Outwit questions and I love yours, they are funny!
Moral of the story, Plumpkin is an angel compared to some of the others!! Peace Out!!!!
Now I don't think "Plumpkin" was made out to be worse than all the malaise causers on JF main chat, but I can see exactly why Plumpkin was chosen as the first one to be profiled. She. . . err, I mean it, is very well-known, and not because of any one terrible act or anything. It is just consistently. . . what's the word? Weird. Yeah. Is there anything wrong with that? No, not really. But if you take something good away from it, and are that bothered by the jerks on the board that Plumpkin is your savior, then good for you. Everyone needs something if you can't choose to ignore the craziness.
After all, it is the Internet. . . what did you expect? Sane, reasonable people?
Speaking of know-it-all members, does anyone else notice how one person in particular is the expert on everything and appears to have some kind of freakish group cult following? I wondered what the big deal about this blog was when this particular group keeps making references to a site off JF where they, the elite members of the 'fan club' go to talk about other JF-ers in private. And yet no one says anything about that. Hmmmmmmm.
Gabriella - I like to consider myself fairly knowledgeable about different Smack sects, but you could have been describing any number of groups. Do you care to clarify?

Joseph you so hit the nail on the head! If a little different or weird bothers you then Plumpkin might bother you.
But if mean, know it all, cussing, or crude members bother you then Plumpkin is good to go and others bother you a lot more. I think most members are bothered by these types but they do not speak up for fear of getting jumped on by the clique or cronies.
Gabriella, I have no idea what/who you are talking about? If one of the people you are talking about is who I think you are hinting about, she is a sweetheart, so I need more info to understand?
I think this is a cool idea for a blog, I hope it stays civil. It's a good way to get to the bottom of some things and keep it away from chat. Maybe it will make chat a better because people can talk about the controversy here instead.
I'm an old timer at Jellyfish so I was ready for something like this to get to the bottom of the gossip, I never know what to believe. Good luck with it.
Well at least I know now who Gabriella was talking about. And while I've observed some Smackers taking issue with the people she mentioned, I have no particular "rooting interest" in that debate.
Yet another "off-site" chat group, huh? I'm sure that's a topic we'll cover in the near future...fun fun fun!
It's true, people are so harsh to Plumpkin, but that one guy that comes on bragging about how he invented Myspace, bangs a million supermodels a day, hangs out with celebrities because he's so much cooler than anyone else on the face of the earth, tells every single girl "Night baby, go dream about me sweetheart"... you know they guy... he's worshiped on the site. And he's a freakin douchebag. Really do not get it.
Steve - I honestly have no idea who you're talking about! I've seen Smackers use exaggerated bravado, but I can't think of anyone that is "worshiped" who talks like that.

Ok well, I know this blog here is supposed to be about plumpkin, but I just can't go there! I pretty much want to comment on what "Steve" had to say. First off the person you are talking about has never once said that he invented myspace, come on now! Second, if he has/hasn't slept with a million super models, why does it really matter? As far as being worshiped on the smack, there are many ladies on the smack who truly enjoy chatting with him, on and off the smack! Have you ever talked to him off the smack? I truly doubt it! He is a sweet and sincere guy, and yes I know this because I am one of those who do talk to him outside of the smack.
I do know that the idea of this site is to let many of our problems with JF come out and I so agree with this. It just gives us somewhere to rant and rave about members and things they are doing on JF that we seem wrong! But please remember that when you start "gossip" about some people feelings may be hurt! I know that is not the intention here, but it's true! There is so much drama on the smack, many people are leaving, because of all this drama! So, why are these people leaving? Well basically because they have no use in he said she said crap.But, some of those that are leaving are the ones who has had the bad things said about them, But once again this is the internet and who cares, well lets put it this way, there are still many people in this world who do have hearts and actually care what people are saying about them. So, please remember that before we start "gossip" on one person or another!

So I'm the guy that Steve is talking about. Let me clarify a few things. The girls you've probably heard me talk about/to are women I know in real life. I don't know of any time you've heard me "baby" this or "baby" that, but in most cases, I can guarantee that it's with people that I know IRL and introduced to the site. I mean, look at my profile (jo3design). I have 12 referrals. 12. and they all used to frequent the site regularly. Where are they now? Honestly, it's because of judgmental people like you that scared them off. Initially, I came to the site to look for deals. And that's all it is. Yeah, I made some internet friends on this site, but in the end, I looked at it as a place to get great deals on things that I like, and even for things that I don't like, because I know friends of mine that would like to have them.
I've had 12 friends join the site. And out of those 12, not one single person continues to visit the site. Yes, JF is an awesome place to get great deals. But in the end, it IS a social shopping site, and the social aspect of it FUCKING sucks. I'll be the first to admit it. I get questioned EVERY single time someone asks me about what I do. I answer honestly, and if it comes off as bragging, then I apologize; that is NOT my intention. But every time I answer someone's questions honestly and tell them about myself, all I get are PM's from random accounts (that I know were made just to troll JF and talk shit from behind a monitor) telling me that I'm full of shit or what not.
Well guess what. I have nothing to prove. I give a fuck LESS about what people say. Which is why I don't give those individuals the time of day to even respond to their pitiful PMs to justify what I've done. I've come from a background where I've HAPPILY earned my lifestyle. And if you don't agree with it, it's because either (a) you're jealous, (b) you're judgmental or (c) you just don't care.
Whatever it is, I have nothing to prove to anyone, especially on JF.
Let's clear the record here, and this is directly to you, Steve. I don't have any recollection of ever talking to a Steve on JF, so to hear someone bring me up is a compliment; thank you for that. It's great to know that I make an impact on people so much that they feel compelled to post anonymously about me.
Not once have I ever claimed that I own or started MySpace. Yes, I am an original employee, but never have I once claimed to be the originator of the behemoth of a site. Do you think I'd be spending 15 minutes/25% to get deals on items on JF if I was an "inventor" of the site? Get real.
When have I EVER claimed that I bang super models all day? Let's get something straight. I am a professional photographer by trade. I have credentials with some of the top magazines of the trade. I meet a lot of women, who I am friends with. I've introduced some of these friend to JF. And not one of them like the site. And are they to blame? Yes, I've posted from these friends' homes. Yes, I've announced that my friends have come over to visit while I'm Smacking. But when have I EVER claimed to have slept with any of them? Ask any of my models that work with me, and they'll GLADLY back up my claim that I don't sleep with them. Besides, it's none of your God damn business who I sleep with, so why would I announce it in a chat room?
And I never knew I was worshiped on the site. It was only at the point that I read that piece of your comment that really made me think you were a jealous troll. Jealous of seeing someone socially interact with people on a level that you cannot. I'm sorry you feel that way, but for me, this is my JOB. My career depends on my interaction with people, so if I'm good at it, it's only because I'm TRUTHFUL with people about the things that I do/believe in. If you actually took the time to get to know me through chat or PM, then I can honestly humbly say that I am a pretty cool guy. And I WILL humbly brag about that /humility.

I'm only taking the time out to write this response to you to set the record straight. I'm sick and tired of being called out like this, because you're not the first one to do it. You're just the first one to do it publicly. So I'm addressing it publicly. If you still feel compelled to talk shit about me or speak your mind about me, please at make sure that you've had a 1-on-1 interaction with me so you could make up your own mind from an impartial point of view. I DO respect your opinion, which is also why I'm spending so much time and detail into this response, so please don't think I don't care. But honestly, I'm sick of tired of being judged, and having to listen to these things from my OWN friends who've joined the site only to hear negative things about me, or how they've been questioned to justify the things that I do.
I do believe I'm a pretty good asset to JF, and would hate to leave. But in the span of a few months, I've seen the quality of the site (non-product/deal-based) turn to absolute judgmental SHIT and have thought about leaving for good on many occasions. I've even left the site for weeks at a time, only to return to the same shit that you portrayed in your comment.
Please stop. Take the time to send me a message and get to know me before you decide you want to judge me. And that's all I have to say about that.

Ummm Joe, I think it hurt so much because everything that was said was true. It must have hit close to home! I've seen you say all of those things in chat but it didn't offend me or anything. I just take you for a guy who is very cocky and full of himself.
Anytime someone has to constantly say how great they are and all the awesome stuff they get to do, are not as great as they say. Let your "greatness" speak for itself. Let people know the real you. I don't care if you have done all the things you have said, it doesn't matter to me.
Many of us, do cool things but no one at JF toots his own horn as much as you and shoves it in our face. Basically, you are only around so many beautiful women because they are being paid to be there for you to photograph. Big deal, we can all PAY to have pretty people around us. We are not impressed.
Also, can someone please tell me where to see these Plumpkin videos or whatever. I'm still confused about this whole Plumpkin Hate fest. I've yet to see this person say anything rude, negative, or weird on chat. So I would like to see the videos that everyone is talking about.
The Plumpkin videos are all over YouTube and Facebook. Search "plumpkin". I'm not sure, but her youtube channel may be called plumpkinplumps.

After watching the first one, "Plumpkin Takes a Bath", I thought that it was pretty cute and just a funny thing to do.
But then I watched Plumpkin Goes To Disnyland, Plumpkin Meets Pancake, Plumps in my Rump, and Plumpkin Goes To The Casino, etc... and was asking myself if I just witnessed a woman that thinks her stuffed pumpkin is alive!! The casino one was hillarious because to gamble she would bang Plumpkin into the button. Didn't people around her think "What the hell?"
As a virgin to the Plumpkin videos, I do have a few questions for Plumpkin if she could so kindly answer.
1. Who do you make those Plumpkin videos for? Like kids, grownups, or yourself...
2. When do you find the time to make all of the Plumpkin videos? Do you work?
3. Do you think that maybe you are obsessed and need to bury Plumpkin so you can move on with your life and be a productive member of society that doesn't bring a stuffed pumpkin and a video camera everywhere that you go while making the annoying high pitched squeals?
At this point without the answers from Plumpkin, my assessment is that she is harmless and probably a very kind and sweet lady that just needs to maybe seek professional help immediately for a possible case of "Obsessive Compulsive Plumpkinism"!!!
I've finally decided what I think about Plumpkin....
I think that she is really funny and has an odd sense of humor. But I do think that she is making the videos for fun and just to make people smile.
I don't think that she is trying to bother people and she does seem to have a good heart. The more I watch her videos, the funnier they are. I guess you just need a quirky sense of humor to get the whole Plumpkin thing.
